– Increase fruit consumption (4 servings per day)

– Limit salt intake to 6 gr daily

– Use fat-free or low-fat dairy

-Limit red meat and substitute by fish, chicken and soy ( maximum twice a week)

– Omit sweets, nuts, chips, salty snacks

– Limit saturated fats (mayonnaise, butter, solid oils)

– If overweight, start a weight loss program.

– Include foods with higher antioxidant content in your diet (Beta Carotene, Vitamin C); such as tomato, carrot and green-leafed vegetables.

– Stay away from canned foods as they contain high amounts of salt.

– Exercise daily.

– Avoid cheeses, pickled stuff such as cucumbers and olives, dressings, sauces, mayonnaise and ketchup/ red sauces.

– Avoid meat stocks, tomato and celery juice.

– Use garlic or garlic cubes and pills in cooking.

– Add Potassium rich foods to your diet (banana, orange, tomato).
